Hello all,

I'm a newbie here trying to test custom SIP software. I have two vendors that I'm testing. I have 3 accounts to register but only VoIPUser.org will be my PSTN Outbound test server. Each software connects and registers fine with us.voxAlot.com and iptel.org but when I enter my VoIPUser.org info, registration fails. When I look at my SIP Account on VoIPUser website PSTN Status is "Not Active" but I got an email this morning telling me "Your PSTN outbound service access at VoIP User has now been activated. Welcome to the community." Am I missing something? Is it safe to assume that since I can register with the two other servers that something is amiss with my account at VoIPUser rather than software/hardware?

Welcome to VoIP User TallOne.

What are you using for your settings ? Behind NAT? Using STUN or port forwarding?

Thanks Dean!

In each software, the only settings that I'm entering are SIP Proxy Server, UserID, Password. I'm on a company network so yes I'm assuming I'm behind NAT, but I would assume that is independent with the behavior of the SIP Proxy server since I can register to us.voxAlot.com and iptel.org. If I were having NAT problems wouldn't that occur with those two servers as well? I'm not using STUN or port forwarding.

No. Voxalot and IPtel both have some clever (read : expensive) NAT traversal stuff that we don't have (read : can't afford) Wink

If you configure it to use STUN with the server address : stun.voipuser.org and port 3478 (if you need a port) then 99.9% liklihood it will then work.

If that doesn't work, let me know and we'll try plan B...

As it's a custom SIP UA you're using if you want to schedule a particular time (GMT) to test and let me know (via a PM) I can get a trace running on the server for you which I can then email you, so at least you can see what's happening with your client server-side.

OK, possible that we have a bug server-side - just looking at it now.

I am facing the same problem i can register other free providers accounts like voxalot / freephoneline.ca and different commercial providers but NOT VOIPUSER.

I am using X-lite 2.0 release 1103a and build stamp 13985.

Hi Syed,

I see you joined VoIP User a while ago - is this a new problem, or have you always had problems registering?

We're currently trying to analyse a problem that may indicate an issue at our server end. Whilst we do not have fancy NAT traversal kit, there are general indications that our NAT traversal isn't working as well as it was a couple of weeks ago (we made a configuration change).

May take us a couple of days to work it out, but any information that you can give would be helpful.

Thanks,

Dean

Post your X-Lite setup. Also check the log to see if there is any useful information.

Thanks for the response. I joined voipuser long time ago and was using successfully with Xlite. All of a sudden it stopped registering. I have Eyebeam also then i fixed my a/c in Eyebeam it registered but one way Audio is the problem i faced. I can not hear any ring but after some seconds can see that a call is connected but do not hear any audio from the callee.

I am connected with a 512k ADSL line through the Speed Touch modem/router.

That is exactly the same problem as we've been experiencing since a change to our config a couple of weeks ago, so it's definitely a problem at our end.

Don't change any settings - I'll post back here when we've fixed it.

TallOne - your issue is also caused by the same problem.

A long shot, but I don't suppose the SpeedTouch has recently had a firmware upgraded or been reprovisioned? There were problems here when internet TV was introduced.
