Almost sounds like you're suggesting I open it up and try cleaning out any dust Smile

I get caller ID. What I mean is I only get the name of the caller if they're on sip and it sends that as well. I don't see why the phone itself doesn't add a name along with the number if it's in the phones address book. Like mobile phones do...

Yeah I agree does seem Cisco phones are aimed at bigger business's. Well I don't think there are too many sip phones aimed at households. But Cisco phones definitely seem more business orientated. I just know cisco routers are some of the best around, and was wondering if that translated to their other hardware - ip phones specifically.

What does DECT stand for?

Unfortunately I think I have the answer. My GXP-2000 of about the same age was doing the same thing yesterday. Since I know it is out of warranty I opened it up to see what I could see.

The CPU chip casing (since these phones are just a computer) was all melted and bubbled up. Unfortunately they don't put any kind of heatsink on the CPU as you might expect and the heat after a period of time just cooked it.

So unfortunately I also have a phone where all the lights and screen are lit and the network port LED's are flashing. It seems it is just an indication of a completely cooked main board.

Since I don;t see where you can buy the main board and chances are it would costs as musch as the phone anyway, in the garbage it goes.

I would expect this is happening to all of these phones of this age. It is nothing a fifty cent heatsink probably would have prevented.
