TE210P and Trixbox ( some serious advises needed )

We have a good configuration server with TE210P card, we have to do the following tasks.
1) connect the T1 line and allow DDI to extensions within the same building
2) forward incoming faxes to extensions as Emails
3)Activate voice mail to each extension with email forward

we have been planing to use TRIXbox but we couldn't manage configuring zaptel in Trixbox CE 2.4.2.0 then we thought that Asterisk now would make a better choice accept the fact that it does not handle fax.

We need advice which one to use and if there are any solutions for the Trixbox zaptel problem. ( we've followed http://www.trixbox.org/wiki/zaptel-not-loading-2-2-x but no thing useful).

Some of the guys are saying to use VM version of both AsteriskNow and Trixbox, so one will handle the T! and forward the incoming to the 2nd. which will handle the faxing and the rest of scenario.
I am sure that we'll get some help from here, so please show us the way.
note: we are 2 guys we have worked with Trixbox for a while and we do good with it but we have no Idea about T1 and Faxing.

Im a little lost.

Could you clearly say what is the problem is.

For example "Zaptel doesnt load when using trixbox"

It will be easier to work out what happening.

But be sure to avoid trying to get zaptel hardware in VM though

oh Ian thanks for replay,
fine, the problem is that the TE210P will always keep blinking red. and within asterisk it doesn't show. it will say fatal error no modules for zaptel , and it will never come up.
I tried several time to run the fix-zaptel script but never worked (http://www.trixbox.org/wiki/zaptel-not-loading-2-2-x),
I also tryied to install the latest zaptel form Digium yet no thing happen,, in fact when I download the zaptel driver in /usr/src and tar gaz it the command make && make install will not work, it says no compiler and at this point I don't know where to move.

Ok lets take this in order.

You need to make sure you have the correct kernel header files.
if the box is a SMP box trix used to have problems and only have the binaries for UP boxes.

Then if this is 1.4 you need to do ./configure first, this will check that you have the correct dependancies.

and when that is OK then and only then do a make and make install and make config

Then hopefully you may be there. also check the output of dmesg

very clear. yet we want to start the thing from the beginning once again. what version of trixbox you think will be easy and hassle free to make the required task works.?

I have installed Trixbox 2.0 and the zaptel functions fine but I had a problem with networking and I couldn't login to the packages update, so I shifted again and installed Trixbox 2.4.2.0 and what I have seen is that the kernel in Trixbox 2.4.2.0 will break down the zaptel. can any one please tell me what to do to fix this problem. I want basically to use Trixbox 2.4.2.0

Firstly its very hard to shot a moving target.

Decide what distribution you want and stick with it.

Then we can address the issues.

once decided can you report back what dmesg says and what zttool reports and what uname -r says.

Now we have installed a clean trixbox 2.2.4.8 and we have to let
TE210P to functions. would you please lead us to make it stop red blinking and ready to work with T1.
