Hello! Here is my set up, and problem.

I have subscribed to ViaTalk (www.viatalk.com) to get a US number . I chose ViaTalk because (a) the reviews of their service are good and (b) they provide support for SIP phones. I haven't yet tried it in the US, but I'm trying to set up the service on my LAN through a Livebox (Inventel) router from Orange. Outgoing calls work fine. Incoming calls ring the phone, but I hear nothing. It is the same situation with X-Lite, a Siemens C470 IP phone, and a Linksys WIP330 Wi-Fi phone, so I don't think it's a phone problem. I suppose it's a port-forwarding issue, but I can't configure the Livebox so that I can hear the caller. I have tried putting the phones' IP address in the DMZ, it doesn't help.

Here is the configuration information provided by ViaTalk

    Enabled: Yes
    Display Name: Your Name Here
    Username: My Phone number
    Authorization User: My phone number
    Password: ********
    Domain/Realm: newyork-2.vtnoc.net
    SIP Proxy: newyork-2.vtnoc.net
    Outbound Proxy: newyork-2.vtnoc.net

Any help on configuring the Livebox will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ian.

Welcome to voipuser.

I don't know much about the "LiveBox" other than it has presented problems before. I thought that they were locked and the use of a third party voip provider was blocked. When you say that outgoing calls are OK, are these using the Orange service or Viatalk?

Using ViaTalk. I'm not talking about the telephone that plugs into the Livebox to make voip calls via Orange's network, which I also use, but voip phones on my LAN.

The livebox does give you the option of port forwarding: "port forwarding is used to forward specific incoming connections toward dedicated PC on your network" and I have tried forwarding connections on ports 5060 and 5004 to the IP address of a phone, but that didn't work.

Thanks,
Ian.

You cna try also forwarding some RTP ports. It is strange that incoming calls work - are they ViaTalk as well?

I thought I had forwarded RTP, port 5004 and above? Incoming calls don't work - I can't hear the caller - outgoing calls work fine.
