Written by martyndavies on Jan 29, 2008 - 11:10 AM

Good news if you wanted to take part in the Android Developer Challenge from Google. The deadline has now moved out to 14th April 2008 (originally 3rd March). Total prize money available is $10 million, with the winners being announced in July.

Google's Android (Mobile Phone O/S and developent platform) is an open-source project, hoping to grab a share of the mobile phone O/S market. Android offers a common application platform across a range of mobile phone hardware with different screens, peripherals and abilities. Phone vendors like Motorola, Samsung, LG and HTC are already signed-up to Google's Open Handset Alliance, as well as a range of different telcos, equipment manufacturers and software companies.

Google will also be running number of Android Code Days over the next few weeks in London, Tel Aviv, Boston and Munich.
