I have a uk number with voipuser and can call it by the usual dialing procedure.

How does one call it via its sip address?

Using Callcentric's speed dial, I tried canam101 [!at] voipuser.org (replace the [!at] with a @) and canam101 [!at] sip.voipuser.org (replace the [!at] with a @) but couldn't connect.

Thanks for any advice.

What you used seems OK. Both should have worked.
I tried your number but I guess you are not online.

You have lots of options with Callcentric!

I have accounts with Callcentric & Voipuser, so I did some testing for you.

I tried (and succeeded) with the following:
username [!at] voipuser.org (replace the [!at] with a @)
0844933xxxx [!at] voipuser.org (replace the [!at] with a @)
**275*4480844933xxxx

I just entered the details into the phonebook on Callcentric's web site, then dialled *75xx and they all worked - obviously I used my own username/number where appropriate. The last option is via SIPBroker (mainly to see if it would work - and it did).

Hopefully you can get yours to work too. Good luck!

PS anyone at Voipuser wanna make it possible to call back to Callcentric?

Can you call Callcentric using the xxx@YYY format? Callcentric also has a Sipbroker number that is active *462. Perhaps you could register for ENUM (e164.org will do but I dont think voipuser searches the e164 database) and use that to forward your calls to Callcentric.

Kinda off topic now, but no, I can't call Callcentric from Voipuser with 1777xxxxxxx [!at] in.callcentric.com (replace the [!at] with a @) (although funnily enough, my 0844 number points to it and works fine, and I assume it comes in to Voipuser before being shunted off to Callcentric).

I tried with my (*462) 1777xxxxxxx number via ENUM (*013) and Sipbroker (*275) and it didn't work either (also tried **013 and **275 to no avail).

But that's OK. The only time I need to call myself SIP to SIP is when I am playing, and then I just make sure I do the playing with Voipuser and call it from Callcentric.

Calling yourself may not work since you may produce all kinds of conflicts within your network. I you are logged into Voipuser the * codes will not work. They should work from Voxalot. As far as I know Voipuser does not peer to Callcentric. You may be able to test by calling a SipBroker "free" PSTN number (using PSTN) and then calling your ENUM at the prompt. The whole business of peering and handing calls from voip provider to voip provider can get quite complicated. It sounds like you have everything important working now. Enjoy!
