Hi,
I have a SPA3102 connected to Telewest/Virgin Media telephone and broadband. I have all the dial plans set up how I want and it all works fine.
The only problem that I have is that the PSTN line cuts out a few seconds to a few minutes on an outgoing or incoming PSTN call.
Has anyone else run into this before?
Help greatly appreciated

Exactly. When the call drops out neither party can be heard. |

Does the call actually get disconnected or not? The PSTN is converted to VOIP (digitised) before being finally output so we need to now at what stage it is being dropped. How does the signalling change on the LEDs when this happens? You may need to adjust the on hook off hook voltages. |

The call gets cut off. While the call is active, the line and phone lights blink in unison and then the line light goes out and the call is cut off.
Do you have any advice on what to set the voltages to? |

The voltages depend on where you are. Check the manual and search Yahoo for information applying to where you are which I think is the UK in your case. |

The default settings on the 3102 are often the ones for the USA (and Canada) but I gather that they are normally OK in the UK. The settings are on the Regional tab. You can find quite a bit of information on the Voxilla site.
eg.
http://forum.voxilla.com/linksys-sipura ... 11778.html
The full manual has more information. There may be a better 3102 manual on the Linksys site by now but the one I have is the 3000 manual from the Sipura site that applies to the 3102 in most instances. |

Thanks for the links. Unfortunately the problem remains. If anyone has specific experience with settings for UK Telewest/Virgin Media or a BT DECT phone ti would be appreciated |

Sometimes the fact that the call cuts out or is choppy can be due to problems with RTP ports although I would expect them to happen on voip calls only.
Now, incoming and outgoing calls on PSTN are converted to voip internally in the 3102 as the call is moved from the PSTN line to Line 1. This results in a loss in call quality. I have never had the calls drop. However, the problem could be connected in some way with incorrect voip settings that are met in the PSTN<>voip transfer. It might be worth checking those settings. |

I also have the 3102 and I'm in the UK. Mine is working on defaults, other than I have customized the dial plan so it knows to insert my town prefix for local numbers. It works very well, other than an intermittent echo. I also use a BT DECT base station plugged into it (BT Verve).
I had a problem early on where my router's "intrusion detection" was sometimes triggering and interpreting a stream of RTP/UDP as some kind of attack, and blocking it. I managed to configure around this in the router and now all is well. So I would check any security or diagnostic logs that exist in the router, see if you can see anything odd there. |
