Hi Guru's

Scanning through the forum I've not been able to find our scenario. We are a small business, with a remote sales office. We want to connect the remote sales office to our main PBX (Panasonic Analogue TA 624 system).

We can find lots of VOIP solutions to give us an additional external line, however can't see how we can have an extension port on the PBX connect to our ADSL, and at our remote sales office ADSL connect back to an analogue handset (not Panasonic handset).

Fundamentally, we'd like the remote sales office to be exactly the same as if it were in our main office - pick up the phone and either dial and extenion or 9... number - and we'd like to call the remote office by dialing its extension.

Is this possible? What equipment would we need?

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge with us.

Kind regards

Mike

Hi Mike

Welcome to Voipuser.

This is fairly simple to do, The only problem can be the "hookflash" or recall used to do a transfer.

But all you basicly need is 2 ATAs (analog terminal adaptors) One FXO and one FXS you connect the FXO one to an extension on the the system and at the remote end you connect a handset to the FXS port. You need to be sure that both ATAs are compatible Linksys being a good bet. and they will work in point to point mode.

You can do this using two analogue adaptors (one for each end) and an extension port from your PBX.

This site gives guidance http://www.digiumcards.com/2006/07/conn ... nt-to.html

Many thanks - really appreciate your advice.

Just to clarify

BT Lines -> Panasonic PBX -> Ext 202 -> Linksys SPA3102 -> ADSL Head Office -> ADSL Remote Office -> Linksys SAP2102 - Standard phone handset
-> Panasonic PBX -> Ext 201 - local Phone
-> Panasonic PBX -> Ext 203 - local Phone
-> Panasonic PBX -> Ext 204 - local Phone etc.

Is this correct?

If so, my next question is - How do you point the ATA'a at each other? As our head office IP number range allocated to the SPA3102 will be a private range (we use NAT). The same could apply to the remote office. Do the devices use specific ports that need routing rules configuring - or does the SAP series include ADSL modems and VOIP routing?

Thanks again.

Hi Guys, many thanks for your help. I have tried to buy the mentioned equipment and 2 suppliers tell me that the config discussed here will not work and recommended that I dont buy them!

Is it a case of them not fully understanding the product capability? Could you please review the above config and confirm?

Thanks very much

Hi

It does work, Here is a post explaining how to do it

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,17190135

you will find many others on the web. I havent used sipuras but have used 4 port gateways to extend blocks of extensions over fibre betwen sites.
