Hello I'm new in the world of voip.
I have an nintendo DS lite with voip software from http://svsip.free.fr I have an registration by freecall.

I can make an call. but there is a bit of lag happening.. I can hear them fine, but it takes at least 5 secconds for them to be able to hear me, then there is a small delay happening constantly, and I come thru very quietly and crackled.

Is this know with freecall is there an better voip provider with freecalls to tryout for fun.

I'm located in the netherlands

Hi Roger and welcome to Voipuser

I think you would experience the same problems with any provider and the cause is more likely to be with the settings at your end and the actual equipment itself. How do you connect to the internet? What audio devices are you using to speak to and to hear callers? Have you opened any specific ports? We really need to know a bit more info in order to be able to help properly.

Do you also have a PC? It would be easier to diagnose hardware problems if you were running a soft phone application in a conventional PC - whilst using a gaming device for VOIP is fun it's not really what it exists to do is it?

Sometimes you will get this kind of behaviour if you have not forwarded the required rtp ports. Make sure that you forward the voip port (5060 UDP) amd some rtp ports (I use 8000 to 8010 UDP). Another reason may be that you have some sort of conflict on your network.
