To the folks who make the big decisions for VoIP User.

Assuming I get VoIP User to work on my phone, I would like to start using it. But I am not keen to tell all my friends to start calling me on a new low cost premium rate phone number. First it is a lot of work for me to tell everybody my new number. Then they all have to update their records. Also some friends have phone tariffs which give free calls.

Can I suggest an alternative? I will pay a sum of money - tell me how much, and when my calls reach a certain point, send me an email and I will pay some more. If I don't pay after a few days, cut me off. If you choose the the right amount it could aid your financial health.

What do you think? Any good?

Regards,..........Topher

Hi Topher,
Ideas are always welcome.

This is something that has been discussed here before, but was eventually shelved.

Voipuser is not a commercial service, it is a community based and funded site aimed at helping people to explore the world of VoIP, which is why we can offer Lo-call numbers in the first place when others offer premium rates, we aren't aiming to make a living out of it and all money received goes into the central 'pot'. Consequently we do not have the specific backend systems needed to track or control any form of billing.

All that said, we do have the donation system available from the Home page. It is not automatic, Dean has to toddle to the bank at periodic intervals, but contributions will be credited to your account within a day or two. You can see your contributions and the status of your account from the My Sip Account link on the left and if your account does go into the negatives you get an email to say so. Which is 95% of what you ask for?

Hi Rgower,

I have now got my phone working with Voipuser and want to send you some money.

I have tried lots of searches on Voipuser to find out how to do it, but I have failed. Is there a link you can send me?

I do not have a Pay Pal account. Is there another way I can donate?

If I have to, I will set up a Pay Pal account.

Regards,.........Topher.

The system does accept single donations without a Paypal account, just click on the Paypal symbol near the top right of the Voipuser homepage
