AT&T Go After Vonage

I'm not a big Vonage fan but sometimes you have to feel sorry for them - now AT&T is after them for patent infingement.

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) — Internet telephone company Vonage Holdings Corp. disclosed Friday that it's the target of yet another patent lawsuit from a telephone company, in this case AT&T Inc.

That makes AT&T the third major phone company to sue Vonage, which until recently was a leader in selling phone service that rides the customer's broadband connection.

When it comes to Vonage, it has been always gaining margin by charging monthly rental. Even though it charge less and less, it does charge due to maintence of its servers. Actually, the more users Vonage obtains, the heavier burden it will take. In the meantime, Being based on open protocol, it's easy to get entangled with some suits such as patent infringement for tech and product which probably other companies invent prior to Vonage.
