I am having all sorts of trouble getting Asterisk to
work behind that router whatever i do with port forwards,
firmware upgrades etc.

If a remote extension attempts to register using the
NATed Asterisk's public IP the router substitutes the
address in the REGISTER message with Asterisk's internal
IP causing registration to fail.
If i use a domain name, REGISTER works....
In either case, calls to the remote extension fail
even after it has registered.

Bottom line is: avoid this router for VoIP at the moment...

I am experiencing a different issue with the Linksys WRV-200 router. For some reason all of my SIP trunks lose registration periodically, and resetting the router clears the issue. I wish I had seen this post before I bought the three that I have. I am hoping that a firmware upgrade would do the trick. BTW I am using firmware version 1.0.32.2, I was experiencing the same issue with 1.0.37.

Inded this is one of the issues i was facing.
The server would lose SIP trunks periodically
for no apparent reason and a reboot would restore it.

I looked at logs, SIP traces etc for patterns but
i could not find any.
Switched to IAX and did not notice any apparent problems.

I just uploaded the latest beta firmware 1.0.38 and disabled the "SIP Application Layer Gateway:" found under the Firewall menu. It has been up for 2 day now and still haven't lost the registration.
