I'm not sure this trick works with just any modem card. There's some guidance on the VoIP Info Wiki.

Ok. Thanks for that, reading through and examining the card reveal it has a "MD3200" chip which indicates it should work as an X100P.

Should it have been detected and installed automatically? If so, how do I recover from a detection failure?

Elsewise, how do I install it manually?

Is there a way to see a list of devices on the machine, similar to windoze ctlPnl/system/hardware/deviceManager ?

Hi
dmesg will show if it was seen, and lsmod will show if it was loaded.

Thanks for the two commands... I ran them (partial output below) and I see a couple of Zap* entries and a Wildcard FXO: Generic Clone... How do I associate these into the software ?
