VoIP inside Facebook

Written by tjardick on Sep 26, 2007 - 03:49 PM

Truphone, the mobile VoIP Company (who's CEO Martyn interviewed for Bending the Needle in the summer), are set to give a demonstration at the DEMO conference in San Diego of their latest application - a VoIP application for Social Networking phenomenom Facebook.

Unlike existing VoIP applications within Facebook, the Truphone application actually features an embedded softphone, creating a voice environment "within the very heart of Facebook".

Users can install a "Click to Call" button on their Facebook profile, embed one into a friends Facebook "Wall" and even send within an internal Facebook email message. So the Truphone "Button" acts rather like a calling card ("callee" card perhaps?). The nice thing about that as a means of communication is that the owners actual number remains private.

No official launch date has yet been announced.
