Does anybody use VoIP User as a SIP trunk on their business line?

Would be interested to know if they have...

Hi

Do you mean in or outgoing ?

Please also note although Voipuser is very reliable, it is a community service with no sla or guarantee of service.

Yes, I'm aware there's no SLA... Smile

I was just wondering as the switch we have at work is capable of adding on SIP trunks as well as regular ISDN ones. So theoretically I could route inbound calls in through an 0871 number and outbound 01 and 02 calls out through that SIP trunk, and make regular non-geographic, mobile and premium rate.

We receive a lot more calls than we make to landlines, so there'd be not much going out via the SIP trunk.

Don't know if it would actually be feasible, as we have just an ADSL line into our office. Was really wondering if anyone else is doing it.

Cheers,

Daniel

Hi

What you say is possible, But dont loose site of the fact that we limit call lenght, so using voipuser for outgoing traffic is a nogoer.

If you want a commercial service, Sign up for one. that way you waoul get number that your callers will call and no limit on outgoing.

Yeah, there's a lot of limiting factors to mean that I won't be instantly hooking our entire phone network onto yours - basically because it's voluntarily run, and that if I was to use your network to reduce the cost of ours then it wouldn't be fair. So I'm not about to jump on it. Smile

I just noticed that it was an option on our commercial VoIP system that's all (we use ic-talk - http://www.ic-talk.co.uk/) and was wondering what people were doing on here with regards to their businesses.

It's a double-edged sword. If I make us an inbound trunk, and the VoIP user system wobbles or folds (unlikely, I hope!) then we'd be buggered and have to dish out the old phone number again.

If I make an outbound trunk, people are going to be complaining to me about the 10min call cap.

But I wouldn't do it anyway, as I've said. Smile

Cheers,

Daniel
