Hi there, just found your tool and put it straight to work on our Trixbox. Everytime I run it I get "Failed to bind port 5060. ANother application probably has control." I've tried changing the firewall settings but nothing seems to help.

Any suggestions?

Hi viperweb and welcome to VoIP User.

As stated by the application error, it's not a firewall issue, but some other application has control of port 5060. You need to find out what that other application is and shut it down for the test. After that you can restart it again.

At a guess, I would say the application in question is TrixBox. Unless you have some SIP software running on that same machine?

Thanks. OK I changed the bind port and then reran the test - all passed. Does anyone know why on SIP calls our line gets dropped within 15 seconds?

Have got asterisk 1.2.17 running on a WRT54GL with a 1Gb SD card added. I loaded the port test app onto the router but when I run it I get:

/tmp # ./testport 5060
./testport: ./testport: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

Anyone managed to get it running on a WRT54GL before?

Hi BillyBob,

What kernel are you using? The linux app. only uses stdio and networking sockets. The only thing it might not work on is an OS that uses Berkeley sockets. Someone else reported to me that they had problems using it on an old FreeBSD install. Other than that I'm really surprised. It should pretty much run on anything. It's as simple an app. as they come.

I know it's a bit basic but I have no idea what kernel it is using. How do I find out? About time I went to Linux school.

The ports 587 and 6346 are configured exactly the same way on my router (which is connected directly to the internet) - i.e. to port forward. There are no apps listening on both these ports as of now (netstat -na confirms this). My firewall (Zonealarm) is configured to accept everything from 216.127.66.119. 587 fails but 6346 passes. (I've tried it quite a few times - it's not a one-off thing.) Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong or is it something to do with the port number being <1024 (22 passes) or has this been answered before ? I am on WinXP.

Hey dean!I think the server is down again.I'm having problems testing my ports.Every time I test it will just tell me that I cannot connect to the TCP/IP server and the connection then closes gracefully.
Give the server a good old kick!

Hi Waqas and welcome to VoIP User.

Sounds like you have a firewall in place.

The app does not seem to work - regardless of what port I try, there is nothing coming back from your server - it the server up and running?

Yeah. I think the server is down. Dean could you go give the server a wake up call or something? Very Happy
