Click-to-call specialists
Jajah have launched a new website and user-generated content campaign at
www.noheadset.com.
Jajah are famous for their web-based click-to-call portal, giving access to long distance calling for pennies. Because the calls are initiated from the centre (calling first your own phone, then the target, then bridging the calls together via VoIP), the calls can use either your fixed phone or mobile handset, whichever you find most convenient. Recently they announced a co-operation with
Iotum, to allow Talk-Now to initiate Jajah calls via the ubiquitous Blackberry. In the same way, calls can be initiated via a data connection using any other kind of mobile handset that has internet access, via their
mobile portal.
Jajah’s ‘No Headset Crusade’ is to focus customers on the inconvenience of using a computer and headset rather than a real phone, so clearly putting Skype in the crosshairs of the campaign. Jajah are inviting people everywhere to destroy their headsets and send the pictures and videos, which will be shown on Jajah TV (
www.jajahtv.com, now in beta) and YouTube, or on Flickr. Noteworthy efforts will attract schwag in the shape of Jajah hats, badges and shirts.
Fans of the new media might enjoy the footage of
Guy Kawasaki destroying his own headset. Meanwhile thanks to Jajahtv, I’m a step closer to understanding their business model, with the revelation that calls to non-Jajah members cost more than those to registered numbers.
